How it Works
Satellite broadband is simple to install, simple to explain how it works and best of all simple to use! It works in exactly the same way that normal broadband works but can allow you to get connected where traditional copper or fibre networks are unable to operate and alleviates the need for a broadband line. It is simply another means of getting broadband to your home or business!
The installation of a satellite broadband system is remarkably straight forward. An engineer will typically spend half a day completing an install. This usually consists of the installation of a satellite dish, either directly to the home or business premises or in a static ground location, configuration of the system, a cable installation into the property and the setup of your broadband connection to your devices.
How it Works
The satellite, which sits 22,000 miles up in space, is able to transmit a consistent signal, offering equal coverage directly to your installed satellite dish, straight into your home or business. This system also enables you to send information directly to the satellite, making for a two way connection. No matter on your location, you receive the same speed and performance from the satellite as all other users.
Because your broadband signal has to travel to and from the satellite, some applications work differently over satellite than via a traditional cabled connection. The higher the percentage of data being sent or received will have an impact on the latency of the satellite service that you will receive, for example on line gaming. The good news is that, although heavy on data usage, latency should not affect photo downloads or live streaming. Social media, browsing and the use of VoIP phone systems perform well via a satellite broadband.
If you want to use a VoIP phone and do away with your traditional phone line we can provide these and transfer your original local number across.
Using your Satellite Broadband – Ready to Go!
A satellite broadband system will work just as a normal broadband connection would. You can’t see the wires but you can be guaranteed of a reliable broadband connection that is always there.
